The 4th grade class at Central School took advantage of the Halloween season with a pumpkin launching activity. In this activity, which can include discussions of simple machines and kinetic energy, teams of students in 4th grade follow the engineering design process to build and test a rubber band-powered catapult that launch candy pumpkins. They then took their designs to the Steamer Foyer and had a contest to see who could launch the furthest.
